Creative Examples

Here are some creative examples to let you see what can be achieved with your favorite photograph and a whole lot of imagination.

This is the beauty of scrapbooking. With your favorite photograph, some colour, some elements and some imagination, a whole range of emotion and creativity can be expressed.

1., Image Selection - First choose your photographs carefully. Keep it simple, not too many photo's per page

2., Storyline - Think of your journaling content and what story you want to tell. You can tell a story of the events, insert a poem or even the lyrics from a favorite song.

3., Mood - Decide the pages mood by selecting your colours, background paper theme and fonts. Blues & whites for winter. Oranges, yellows & greens for spring. Pinks for bably girls etc. Bold fonts for bold stories, soft fonts for soft stories.

4., Planning - Plan your layout. It is best to sketch out a draft looking at lines, shapes and simplicity. A general rule of 1/3's can apply, where you balance the page into 1/3 verticle and horizontal segments. Create leading lines between the segments. In this step, you can choose your elements like flowers, rub on elements and house collections.

5., Rethinking - Evaluate the match of the elements you have chosen. Colour, shape, mood.

6., FINALLY - Put it together and have fun

Some helpful Guidelines

* Does the title and font attract your eye and match the mood? Remember, try to capture the mood of the memory.

* Is the journaling tidy and clarrify the theme?

* Is the overall layout simple and not too cluttered?

* Do the colours match the mood of the layout?

* Do the embelishments add to the theme? (rather than just filling space)

* Do the parts flow together and draw the eye into the page?

Never be afraid to keep it simple. A few elements and a simple story can capture the memory, rather than trying to "fill the page". Use the designs and elements creatively and you will learn as you go, what works for you or what does not. As a general rule, keep the number of photographs to 3-4 maximum allowing a flowing element layout.
